Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya with DVDs: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic, Part One Second Edition

Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya with DVDs: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic, Part One Second Edition

Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya with DVDs: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic, Part One Second Edition , Price: $59.95 - "Al-Kitaab: Part One" develops skills in standard Arabic while providing additional material in both colloquial and classical Arabic. With new video material and revised and updated text and exercises, the bound-in and revised DVDs supersede both the former CD audio set and video DVD previously available only as separate items - making this singular volume a comprehensive whole for those immersed in the early and intermediate stages of learning Arabic. Providing approximately 150 contact hours of college-level instruction, parts of this revised edition are updated with contemporary selections for reading comprehension. The organization of the chapters has been adapted to reflect the most current pedagogical developments. Audio tracks for vocabulary sections now allow students to hear a new word followed by a sentence using it in context with previously acquired vocabulary and grammatical structures, enabling students to build new vocabulary skills while reviewing old material. The basic texts have been refilmed with a new cast of actors. The DVDs also contain substantially more material that exposes the learner to Egyptian Arabic: students have the options of seeing and hearing the video of each lesson in both Modern standard Arabic and Egyptian colloquial Arabic. In addition, a short dialogue in Egyptian colloquial Arabic appears at the end of each lesson. New video materials also feature interviews with Egyptians (subtitled in English) about various aspects of Arab culture, such as gender issues, fasting in the Muslim and Christian traditions, social clubs and their significance, and more. This title develops all language-related skills including reading, listening, speaking, writing, and cultural knowledge; immediately incorporates extensive use of authentic materials for reading, listening, and grammatical practice, thus relating abstract grammatical concepts to practical skills; presents narrative-based content through audio and video media rather than written text to develop meaning-focused language processing skills, utilizing two main characters and their extended families; develops reading skills through the use of composed texts derived from the main narrative and authentic texts from newspapers and journals; and, introduces grammar using spiraling and inference, challenging students to discover the grammar of the language by means of analogy, problem solving, and educated guessing. It reinforces grammar and vocabulary through extensive classroom and homework exercises that provide constant review and expand to challenge students as their skills develop; introduces students to Egyptian colloquial through scenes based on the main narrative to promote the use of shared vocabulary and structure of the two registers to increase listening comprehension skills; and, contains Arabic-English and English-Arabic glossaries and reference charts as well as a new grammar index. ...Continue reading for Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya with DVDs: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic, Part One Second Edition

BIC DV62si

Shop online BIC America DV62si Bookshelf Speakers (Pair, Black) Bic Venturi DV62SIBy Dennis GentileI was looking to replace my Boston Acoustics a60 pair after about 20 years of use. I read as many reviews as I could find on the internet and also looked at Consumers Report. I kind of narrowed it down to the JBL S26,Venturi DV62si and Polk r15. The DV62si won the competition. I auditioned each of the speakers and found the BIC pair to have a singularly beautiful sound especially for classical and jazz (which are my mainstays). I was pleasantly surprised by the bass response since CR said they were a bit "bass shy". I recommend highly. (I have my speakers on 12 inch stands.) Where do I buy Bic America VK310C 10-Inch 3-Way Kevlar Series Ceiling Speaker With Pivoting Tweeter & Midrange Great SoundBy F. DavidJust bought these for a 7.1 surround. I am using them for the two front left, right main speakers.Very satisfied with BIC speakers. Kevlar is a great material for cones especially if you run them hard.I also bought a Denon 1910 receiver- great also. These speakers sound great for movies and just playing music for a decent price. The only thing was that they are quite large and cutting a hole in your ceiling that large leaves no room for mistake. They look great with the covers off, so I show them off to my friends.See all 1 customer reviews... » More Information about Bic America VK310C 10-Inch 3-Way Kevlar Series Ceiling Speaker With Pivoting Tweeter & Midrange.

BIC FH-6T

Where can I buy a Bic America FT-6T 400-Watt 6.5" 2-Way Tower Speaker ExceptionalBy BrentI have been putting together a home stereo system for my new home. I have been exposed to many different brands of speakers and other home audio components. I have listened to speaker brands such as B&W (Bowers and WIlkonson), Klipsch, Definitive Technology, Paradigm at the local home theater shops in my area. Now I was not able to compare the Bic America FT-6T speakers side by side to these other brands, but I have listened to enough quality speakers to tell a bad speaker from a good speaker. I think the toughest thing for me was buying a set of speakers site not seen. I trusted the other reviews and researched the company on line. I just didn't understand why these speakers are compared to the big name brands but for a fraction of the price. So I took the leap and purchased a set. I couldn't be happier. I listen to my music, movies, and video games loud! These speakers can handle it all. It took so time getting the settings on my Pioneer VSX 1020 receiver, but now that it is dialed in I am very impressed. I read in another review that there is a flaw with a rattle in the screen. I took mine off. The clarity is truly amazing. These speakers are worth every dollar I spent and then some. Don't pass them up.See all 6 customer reviews... » More Information about Bic America FT-6T 400-Watt 6.5" 2-Way Tower Speaker.

BIC PL-89

Buy cheap Bic Acoustech PL-89 Speakers High efficiency, low priceBy C. StraussFirst, I'll start with the negative. There will be people who will want to know this first drawback ahead of time and it may well disqualify the PL-89 from inclusion in some repertoires. I have a fairly decent home theater receiver, so I think this is a pretty fair assessment based solely on the PL-89s themselves. For towers this size, most people are going to be a bit underwhelmed and even disappointed by the lack of bass output and especially mid bass punch. These speakers are NOT "full range." If you want truly full-range floor standing speakers, in most cases you are going to have to find something with a 15" woofer. In my review of the Bic America FT-6T 400-Watt 6.5" 2-Way Tower Speaker, I stated that truly full-range speakers that can stand alone in the absence of a subwoofer are probably a thing of the past, especially for bass-heavy content, and by definition, any 5.1/7.1 movie. These are Bic's flagship floor standing tower speakers, and even while paired with Acoustech's flagship BIC PL-200 Acoustech Platinum Series Subwoofer, there is a noticeable void in the midbass region of many rap songs, some rock songs, etc. As I stated in the PL-200 review, the bass output it outstanding for the price. As I will state in the balance of this review, the overall output and performance of the pl-89 are well worth the price point. But seeing as these are both BIC's flagship in their respective categories and are meant to be paired together, I would have hoped for a lot more seamless tonal response between the upper-end of the sub and the lower-end of the towers. True bass lovers who crave the "kick in the chest" midbass punch feeling are going to need to either have a subwoofer that can handle midbass well or will need to invest in a mid bass module. Perhaps advanced equalization can fill in this gap, but in my opinion, that should not be necessary. Now that my major complaint is out of the way, I will explain why I have still rated this product 4 stars. These speakers are some of the most efficient home theater speakers I know of available for sale to consumers. They're certainly the most efficient speakers I know of that you can get for under $500 for the pair. These babies SCREAM without breaking a sweat. They really don't have any strained or distorted sound no matter how hard I push them. Do they roll off at a lower frequency? Sure, that's why I set the high-pass crossover to 70 hz on my receiver. When I add a second sub that is known to be outstanding for midbass output, I will probably set the pl-89's high-pass crossover to 80 hz. This will only make them sound better, dedicating the amp's power and the BIC's efforts to what they are best at. These babies will make jazz sound like you're in a live club. BIC VK-6LCR

Where to purchase Bic America VK-6LCR 6.5-Inch 3-Way Kevlar Lacquer On-Wall LCR Speaker (Black) Great price, great sound quality from a smallish speakerBy Stephen M. LerchAfter doing some research, then purchasing the BIC PL-200 Acoustech Platinum Series Subwoofer, I was and still am quite impressed with what BIC America/Acoustech have done with their current line up of speakers, so when I became annoyed that my MartinLogan Motion 8 Center Channel Speaker (Piano Black, each) (received free through Amazon Vine) just couldn't adequately keep up with the B&W 683 front l/r speakers I purchased (also have the B&W DS3s, along with the above PL-200 subwoofer). I needed something better, but on a budget. I want to eventually upgrade to the "proper" center channel for my setup, the B&W HM61, but the price is a bit steep and I won't have that money for a while, so I started researching options from BIC America/Acoustech.What I found was that while looking at the BIC America website one might think that BIC America/Acoustech speakers are just as expensive as the "big boys" yet nowhere near as well known nor used in Hi-Fi shops (including Best Buy/Magnolia). The truth of the matter is, all of their speakers are built in China on shared manufacturing lines with companies such as the venerable HSU Technology (great subwoofer company) which keeps cost down. What that means is the MSRP is really just that and evidently vendors are able to set pricing accordingly. And boy do they price these wonderful sounding speakers highly competitively! For the review proper, let's take a look at each piece individually.Packaging:Let's face it, the first thing you will see when the speaker arrives is the speaker box. The VK-6CLR is well packaged and the box is full color. You have a basic description of the speaker (250W, LCR (Left Center Right, which means it was designed to work well as a Left, Right, Center speaker, which means you could design an entire 5.1 or 7.1 with JUST the VK-6LCR and the sub), 42hz-20 Khz) and a picture showing a 5.1 system setup with all VK6-LCRs) and not much more. It works. Most likely the speaker will arrive in this box and it is well designed and should hold up well. Mine arrived in perfect condition. The speaker itself, once you cut open it, is wrapped in the foam wrapping and has 4 pieces of foam protecting the corners. You also receive a rather short manual (not much to know; mount it according to the instructions, or not), warranty reply card and a Bic America Venturi sticker. The Venturi sticker isn't on the speaker because BIC would like you to place the label in a manner it can be properly read, since the speaker can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Not bad and very good for a "budget" priced speaker.Setup:What do you need to know? Mount it horizontally or vertically (you have to change the bracket on the rear of the speaker depending on how you want to mount it). Connect the speaker wire to the speaker terminals and you are done. ... » More Information about Bic America VK-6LCR 6.5-Inch 3-Way Kevlar Lacquer On-Wall LCR Speaker (Black).

BIC VI-38

Wholesale BIC AMERICA VI-38 8" 3-Way In-Wall Speakers with Concentric Tweeter (Pair) Great product, great soundBy Gordon M. McalisterAlways been a fan of BIC America speakers, I use a pair of Venturi 6 Studio Monitors from 1975 in my recording studio, for critical mixing and listening. These in-walls have a good Fq range by themselves, but sound amazing with acoustic foam lined, and fiber filled, back boxes, built from 3/4" MDF Board, installed in the walls behind them. Use 36" x 14" x 3.5" boxes minimum between the studs and line with 1/2" to 1" acoustic dampeming foam, and then stuff with Acoustic stuffing or Loose Fiberglass insulation. The bass range wil extend downward, and the mid range and tweeter clarity will become more defined. This will make this great speaker, fantastic! We're very happy with the product and would recommend them highly. When put through the "gold standard test" (Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, "Gold Plated Half Speed Master" CD) these speakers just shine like a diamond!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. » More Information about BIC AMERICA VI-38 8" 3-Way In-Wall Speakers with Concentric Tweeter (Pair).
